EC 7th, 8th grade girls win 2 over Hillsboro

The East Clinton seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams swept games from Hillsboro Satsurday at the EC gym.

The eighth grade cruised to a 35-15 win.

“This game in particular was a humbling experience as things did not come easy and was a struggle to get into our core principles on both defense and offense,” EC coach Todd Runyon and Jason Whiteaker said.

Kami Whiteaker had 11 points and nine rebounds for East Clinton.

Jayden Murphy added eight points and Libby Evanshine scored seven. Hayleigh Perdue tossed in five points and Marinah Beener scored four points. Jozie Jones grabbed 11 rebounds.

The East Clinton coaches said Lauren Stonewall and Lindsay Clutter “continue to hustle and give high energy when called upon.”

On the seventh grade side, East Clinton was a 48-42 winner.

Lauren Runyon led all scorers with 21 points. She had 11 points in the opening frame. Runyon also finished with six rebounds and three steals.

Megan Hadley had eight points, three steals and two rebounds. Ashlyn Tate grabbed two rebounds. Jordan Collom had five points, five rebounds, nine assists and eight steals. Lilly Hoskins had 10 points and nine rebounds. Madison Frazer scored four points and hauled in four rebounds.
