WC track, field competes in Starks Open at Capital

BEXLEY – The Wilmington College men’s and women’s track and field teams competed Saturday at the Jessica Starks Open at Capital University.

For the WC women, Emma Burke was fifth in the 60-meter dash (9.69 seconds) and sixth in the 400-meter dash (66.12 seconds).

Burke ran with Cheyenne Rhodes, Miranda Gibson and Sidney Fields to claim sixth-place in the 1,600-meter relay.

The distance medley relay team of Katie Hughes, Amber Larotonda, Brooke Gibbons and Allison Helmke finished second in 14:04.73.

For the WC men, Josh Cyrus was fifth in the 1,000-meter run and Evan Brandon was seventh.

Adam Knaub was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 7.28 seconds.

The distance medley relay team of Evan Whitaker, Elorm Dogbey, Taton Bertsch and Cameron Phelps finished second (11:39.15) while the quartet of Cyrus, Sam Foote, Ben Bales and Brandon placed fifth (13:04.97).

The 1,600-meter relasy team of Knaub, Bertsch, Elliot Phillimore and Aaron Koch ran 3:37.38 and placed fifth.

Wilmington will run at the Cedarville Invitational this coming weekend.
