East Clinton 7th, 8th girls split with Wilmington

The East Clinton seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams split games with Wilmington’s Rodger O. Borror Middle School on Monday.

The seventh grade Lady Astros were 40-22 winners.

The eighth grade East Clinton squad was defeated 34-27.

“Wilmington just wanted this game more,” the EC coaches said. “They came out with intensity on both ends of the floor and we did not match it.”

For EC, Libby Evanshine had eight points and Jozie Jones finished with six. Hayleigh Perdue scored five points and Kami Whiteaker contributed four. Jayden Murphy and Marinah Beener had two points each.

In the seventh grade game, Jordan Collom had 15 points and Lilly Hoskins scored 14 for East Clinton. Lauren Runyon scored eight and Madison Frazer added two.

Hoskins also had 10 rebounds and four steals. Runyon had eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Collom finished with seven rebounds, three assists and five steals. Megan Hadley had a rebound and an assist. Ashlyn Tate had two steals and Jade Campbell hauled in one rebound. Abbi Reynolds came up with four steals and three rebounds. Frazer had four steals and six rebounds.

For Wilmington, Nevaeh Blackburn had 10 points to lead the team in scoring.
