Hillsboro rallies to beat Blanchester girls 35-30

HILLSBORO – Unable to hold a seven-point third quarter lead, the Blanchester High School girls basketball team was defeated by Hillsboro 35-30 Friday night in a non-league game in Highland County.

Blanchester trailed 16-15 at halftime but came out “strong” in the third and built a seven-point lead, coach Bradon Pyle said.

The Ladycats were plagued with foul trouble as Elecia Patton, Lilly Brown and Daelyn Staehling had four fouls going into the fourth quarter, Pyle said.

Blanchester was just 7 for 19 at the free throw line.

“That’s the different in the game right there,” Pyle said. “We had too many silly fouls defensively and couldn’t convert when we got to the line.”

Lilly Brown led BHS with eight points. Patton grabbed 11 rebounds while Lana Roy had eight. Olivia Gundler blocked seven shots and handed out with four assists, Pyle said.
