The East Clinton freshman boys basketball team was defeated by Bethel-Tate 34-31.

Isiah Curtis had nine points while Mitchell Bean and Chris Norman scored six points each. Justin Arnold added five. Michael Daniel and Phillip Davis chipped in two points each.

East Clinton went up 29-27 late in the third period, coach Greg Roberts said, but scored just two points in the final quarter.

The young Astros were 8 for 18 at the free throw line. They had an opportunity to tie the game with less than two seconds to play but were unable to get off a shot, Roberts added.
