WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Wilmington College men’s lacrosse team finished its spring trip with a 22-6 loss at Washington & Jefferson College Saturday afternoon.

Mike Smith was involved in four of the six WC goals, scoring two and assisting on two others. Isaac Louis Charles had seven ground balls to top the Quakers stat chart.

As a team, W&J held an 18-13 advantage in face-offs, 49-23 in shots and 47-39 in ground balls. The Presidents converted 19-of-24 clears compared to 12-of-24 for the Quakers.

The Presidents started quickly by scoring the first two goals four minutes into the game. Smith got the Fightin’ Quakers on the board with a goal up a man, but back-to-back goals from W&J gave the hosts a 4-1 advantage. The final 90 seconds of the quarter saw four goals scored including a Zac Chucta goal off an assist from Smith. Unfortunately for Wilmington, W&J scored the last three to lead 7-2 after 15 minutes.

W&J kept up its scoring pace the rest of the game. Wilmington scored one goal in the second (Peter Locke), one in the third (Smith) and two in the fourth (Ronald Gatts and Austin Young).
