ADA — Ohio Athletic Conference front-runner Ohio Northern remained unbeaten in league play with a 73-42 win over Wilmington Wednesday at the ONU Sports Center.
The loss leaves the Lady Quakers at 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the OAC.
Ohio Northern, No. 16 in the nation among Div. III schools, is still unbeaten in league play at 7-0 and advances to 12-2 overall.
The Polar Bears took control of the game in the rebounding column, with a 45-28 advantage.
More importantly, though, Ohio Northern scored 16 second-chance points while Wilmington was scoreless.
Mackenzie Campbell led Wilmington with 18 points, on 6 of 7 shooting.
Mary Moyer hauled in 7 rebounds. Ellie Kivell and Ja’Cole Tabor had 3 assists each. Tabor also had 4 steals.
Wilmington was 14 for 46 from the field while Ohio Northern was 31 for 68.
Britt Lauck led a balanced ONU scoring attack with 15 points.
Though it was close in the first half, Ohio Northern pulled away in the second half to make it a blowout.
ONU led 15-6 after the first quarter the 23-15 at halftime.
But in the third, the Polar Bears extended their lead to 43-27 and then outscored Wilmington 30-15 in the final quarter for the 31-point win.
