MARIETTA – The Wilmington College softball team was limited to seven hits over two games and dropped a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games Sunday to Marietta 8-1 and 2-0.
The games were rescheduled from Saturday.
The Pioneers scored all eight of their runs with two outs, in recording an 8-1 victory in the opener.
The Fightin’ Quakers managed four hits, singles by Savannah Hooper, Megan Warren, Whitney Edwards and Kerrie Trautman.
Sophomore Becca Carpenter (4-12) allowed six runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Marietta used some short game and a long ball to complete the sweep with a 2-0 win.
Three Wilmington players – Whitney Edwards, Chandler Fields and Taylor Hill – recorded hits.
Sophomore Beth Persicano (2-6) allowed two earned runs on four hits in six innings of action. She finished with three strikeouts and two walks.
Wilmington added a game to its schedule 3 p.m. Monday, hosting Transylvania in a non-conference doubleheader.
