Wayne Road crash sends two to CMH

Two women were transported late Monday afternoon by life squad to Clinton Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle collision in the North Nelson Avenue and Wayne Road intersection in Wilmington. Penelope S. Barlett, 61, of Hillsboro, was cited with running a red light, allegedly causing the accident. She was traveling north on Nelson Avenue. Miranda Lynn Captain, 43, of Wilmington, was driving west on Wayne when her 2012 Ford Fusion was struck on the driver’s side by Barlett’s 2002 Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle. In the official traffic report, the women’s injuries are classified as non-incapacitating.
