Concert wraps up Blan summer reading

The duo Bear Foot will perform a Story Quilt free family concert at 7 p.m. Friday, August 7 at the Blanchester Public Library to help bring the Adult/Teen Summer Reading program to a close.

Audience members get to choose the hand-sewn blocks used for the quilt. Bear Foot (Russ and Barb Childers) provides the songs and stories behind each block from Appalachian tradition to reveal how quilt patterns carry history lessons and family stories. The concert features fiddle music, storytelling and lots of interaction and is appropriate for adults – and children – of all ages.

The Childerses, from Batavia, have been singing and playing music together as Bear Foot since 1983

Also, the last day to submit entries for the “Escape the Ordinary” book review and final trivia contest of summer reading is Aug. 8. Everyone who entered during the summer is eligible for the grand prize drawing for a GoPro video camera and head mount. Three runners-up each will receive a $50 store gift card.

Please contact the library at (937) 783-3585 if you have any questions.
