Two locals earn WC Merit List

Clinton County residents have been named to the Wilmington College Academic Merit List for the 2015 summer semester. The Academic Merit List recognizes those students, enrolled six to 11 hours, who earn at least a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Those students, both from Wilmington, are: Cameron M. Mays, junior (4.0), business administration; and Jessica D. Rice, senior, business administration.

I-71 lanes to close at Olive Branch

Bridge work requires closing the right lanes of north and southbound Interstate 71 at Olive Branch Road in Warren County from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming lane closures. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

Roads to close for railroad work

Beginning Friday, August 14, weather permitting, Noble Road and East Fork Road will be closed at the railroad tracks for work on the crossings on each road, according to the Clinton County Engineer’s Office. The work is being performed by Greenfield Railroad. The roads should be opened by Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Area roads to close at crossings

The I&O Railroad will be closing the following roads at crossings in Clinton and Fayette counties:

Aug. 20-21, Lazenby Road; Aug. 22-23, Champlin Road; Aug. 23-24, Dalton Road; Aug. 25-26, Hoppes Road; and Aug. 27-28, Yeoman Road.
