BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester Public Library encourages everyone to help us “Build a Better World” this summer.

The library provides opportunities for all ages during the annual Summer Reading program, and the library is the ideal partner to help Build a Better World, from a personal to a global level.

Summer Reading registration is underway for children and teens. All participants can earn prizes just for reading (or being read to). And all teens who register are automatically entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire.

Storytimes for various age groups also continue throughout the summer, plus the new Family Storytime for all ages scheduled for 6 p.m. on the last Monday of each month. Schedules are available at the library or on the library website at http://www.blanlibrary.org.

The library also has a packed schedule of events throughout June and July, including the return of Family Fun Fridays.

At 2 p.m. each Friday afternoon, the library hosts a free program suitable for all ages:

• June 9 – Wump Mucket Puppets

• June 16 – The Totally Gross Magic Show

• June 23 – Aullwood Audubon Center Music & Puppets

• June 30 – WAVE Foundation Live Penguins

• July 7 – Cincinnati Museum Center Live Bats

• July 14 – Dr. Insecta

• July 21 – Raptor Inc. Live Raptors

• July 28 – Summer Reading Finale (1-3 p.m.)

Adults also have numerous opportunities to earn prizes just for reading, as well the chance to win a FitBit 2 Charge wristband.

Participants simply must fill out a slip for every book they read (or listen to) to be entered in a random prize drawing. So, the more books read, the better chance of winning a prize. Prizes also will be awarded to the top entries in trivia contests. Drawings will be held June 24, July 15 and Aug. 5.

All participants will be entered in the grand prize drawing on Aug. 5, with the winner receiving the FitBit 2 Charge and three runners-up each receiving a $50 store gift card.

The Friends of the Blanchester Public Library and First National Bank of Blanchester are the sponsors of the adult Summer Reading program.
