WILMINGTON — While only having a few months under their belt, Salon Mane has been doing beautifully at 40 W. Main St.

Since starting in March, Wilmington’s newest hair salon has seen a fair share of local residents coming in to get their hair done.

Owner Lorin Victor says business has been booming.

“It has been crazy,” she said. “In a week I personally see probably 60 to 70 clients. I’ve always been busy but I never expected to be as busy as I am now. “

“I get a lot of clients from social media,” she said. “I do a lot of younger hair — I specialize in blonding and balayage, which is a lot our younger clients want.”

Victor has a stylist for over nine years and has held about every position in the business.

“I was an instructor for a year-and-a-half. I’ve done in-salon couching. I’ve done pretty much the realm of the hair world. So, I’m always wondering, ‘What’s the next step?’ That’s how Salon Mane came about,” said Victor.

As for the salon’s name, she wanted something catchy that incorporated both the Main Street and the hair salon aspects.

In about two months, Salon Mane was up and ready to go.

She described the new establishment as a newer, upbeat and modern salon. Along with Janielle Runyon, who Victor had worked with at a previous salon, they provide all hair-styling services and keeping up with popular trends and styles.

“We’ll do balayage, blonding, haircuts, men’s haircuts, we provide all hair coloring, and facial waxing,” said Victor.

The only thing they don’t provide is pedicures due to space.

“I’d love to expand. There are definitely plans in the future for that. Salon Mane is not going anywhere anytime soon,” said Victor. “I love being a part of Main Street, I love being a part of downtown, I like being involved in the community. I like seeing new businesses come in and networking.”

Salon Mane is open Sunday through Thursday; they take only scheduled appointments.
