Blan electric rates going down

BLANCHESTER — The Board of Trustees of Public Affairs (BPA) of Blanchester will be implementing a reduction of the retail electric rates to their residential customers.

As a benefit of the BPA’s affiliation as a member community of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), there will be a reduction in the wholesale cost of electric power purchased from IMPA.

The BPA will pass this cost savings of approximately 5 percent onto all their retail residential customers with usage beginning as of Jan. 1, 2018.

The BPA also encourages everyone to observe the attractive new downtown street lights along Broadway Street that were purchased and installed by the BPA Electric Department, as well as cleaning up all the overhead electric lines and old poles in that area and installing underground conduit, pull boxes, wiring and controls for street lights and traffic lights.

These new decorative, energy efficient LED lights are a complement to the other 600-LED, energy-efficient street lights that were previously provided free of cost by IMPA and were installed by the BPA staff.
