BREAKING: Davis found guilty on 26 of 500-plus charges; sentencing Monday

WILMINGTON — A Clinton County jury found Phillip T. Davis guilty of all charges late Thursday afternoon.

Davis, 33, of Wilmington, who was arrested a year ago as part of the Marlena Park Gang round-up, was the alleged leader of the gang.

Of 529 charges, including trafficking in drugs, illegal manufacturing of drugs and engaging in a pattern of corrupt behavior, Davis was tried for 26 of them. The other charges were previously resolved out of court.

The charges he faced in the trial were 19 counts of trafficking cocaine in the fifth degree, one count of engaging a pattern of corrupt activity in the first degree, two counts of illegal manufacturing of drugs in the second degree, three counts of trafficking cocaine in the first degree and one count of aggravated trafficking of drugs in the third degree.

The jury went into deliberation on the 26 charges Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. until 5 p.m., then resumed Thursday at 9 a.m. and announced the verdict shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.

The jury is comprised of 11 men and one woman.

The trial started Oct. 27 and was slated to take up to three weeks.

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m.
