ECJH boys 5th, girls 12th at Clermont NE track, field meet

OWENSVILLE — The East Clinton Junior High School boys and girls track and field teams competed Saturday in the Clermont Northeastern Invitational.

The boys were fifth overall while the girls finished 12th.

For the boys, Freddy Morgan won the long jump with a personal best effort of 15-6.5. He also was third in the 100-meter dash.

Quinten Tolle was 10th in the 110-meter hurdles. Van Frye was runnerup in the 800-meter run and third in the 1,600-meter run.

In the 200-meter dash, Landon Runyon was seventh and Trenton Garen finished eighth. Garen also was seventh in the long jump.

In the discus, Jayson Edison finished eighth and Michael Horn was ninth. Devon Slone was ninth in the shot put.

Coach Andrew Ramsey said the team competed well at a competitive 15-team meet despite missing teammates.

On the girls side, Braylynn Malone was 13th in the 1,600-meter run and Mackenzie Shoemaker was 14th. Shoemaker had a season best in the long jump and finished 11th.

Jenna Stanley posted a personal best time in the 200-meter dash. Lauren Hadley was fifth in the shot put. In the discus, Hadley was fourth and Anna Malone finished sixth with a season best of 57-5.
