Blan volleyball picks up first road win

GEORGETOWN — For the first time on the road this season, the Blanchester volleyball team defeated Georgetown 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 Tuesday night in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division action.

The win puts the Ladycats at 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the division. Georgetown drops to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the division.

“The girls really fought hard to keep their momentum and energy up throughout the whole match,” BHS coach Jenna Weisflock said. “We have been battling sickness and injuries the past couple days but the girls didn’t stop and pushed through to pull out the win.”

Ally Davis “really stepped up and was hitting the ball pretty hard,” Weisflock said. She finished with seven kills, a block, six perfect passes and 12 service points.

Shelbie Rose had 10 perfect passes, 16 assists and 13 service points. Asia Baldwin had four digs, nine kills, 17 perfect passes and nine service points. Cheyenne Brown had six kills, a block and 15 service points.

Casey Kingsland contributed four perfect passes, 16 assists, four kills and 23 service points. Morgan Oberle recorded 11 perfect passes, 13 kills, four blocks and 13 service points. Kassidy Abney had three perfect passes. Audrey Heitzman and Holly Scott came off the bench and played hard to contribute to the win.
