LEES CREEK – East Clinton responded from its loss to Hillsboro Friday and evened its record at 2-2 by thumping visiting Jamestown Greeneview 69-50 Saturday.
Wyatt Floyd followed up his 31-point performance versus Hillsboro with 18 points and eight rebounds. Brian Barnes notched a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Ethan Bradds led the Rams (1-2) with 16 points. Teammate Austin Petry chipped in with 13.
“We improved boxing out and turnovers. Our patience was a lot better. We had just 10 turnovers,” EC head coach Tony Berlin said.
EC pulled away from Greeneview with a 10-2 run to finish the first half up 30-23. The Astros then poured it on with a 13-3 run the first half of the third quarter and a 14-4 run the first half of the final period.
The Astros’ cushion swelled to as much as 64-39 with 4:19 left in the contest.
It was a back-and-forth contest to start with four lead changes.
EC opened the second quarter with a 7-1 spurt for a 20-12 advantage. Greeneview responded with the next nine points, including a five-point play on a Bradds three and two Dylan Lehotay free throws, for its last lead of the game, 21-20.
In the JV contest, Alex Pence scored 14 points to propel the Astros to a 60-32 victory. Collin Wilson had eight for the Rams.
