OWENSVILLE — Starting strong in both halves, Clermont Northeastern kept the East Clinton offense in check all night for a 63-39 win Tuesday.

The SBAAC National Division loss puts East Clinton 0-8 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Rockets move to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the division.

“We’re in a slump offensively,” EC head coach Clyde Snow said.

After averaging nearly 50 points a game through its first four games this season, the Astros have scored an average just over 40 in the last three.

The team’s points allowed average has increased from 60 points a game in the first three, to 66 in the last five.

“We are struggling to put the basketball in the hoop,” Snow said. It’s effecting us defensively.”

Dakota Collom had 18 points to lead East Clinton. Connor Yeager had 15 points for the Rockets.

CNE led 18-5 after one then outscored EC 17-7 in the third to put the game away.

Snow said his team can’t say “it’s early” anymore. The time is now to get things going in the right direction.

“We’re in a pretty pivotal point in the season,” Snow said. “We have to elevate our intensity level in practice and in the games. We just gotta keep grinding.”
