Many of the teachers and building administrators new to Wilmington City Schools (WCS) attended the board of education meeting Monday and were introduced to the board members. Of the group of new staffers, first-year WCS Superintendent Mindy McCarty-Stewart said district officials worked very hard in the selection process. She told the newly hired educators, who already had chalked up nine school days, “You have stood out [in the selection process], and have fit in beautifully to the Wilmington way.” From left in the front row are Middle School Principal Norbert “Bert” J. Martini, Denver Elementary third-grade teacher Miss Dyer, Holmes Elementary third-grade language arts teacher Mrs. DeBoard, Title I (federally funded) literacy coach for elementaries Mrs. Hohenbrink, middle school multi-handicaps teacher Mrs. Branham, High School Principal Stephanie N. Walker, and Denver Place Elementary intervention specialist Miss Wellman; and from left in the back row are Holmes Elementary fifth-grade intervention specialist Nate Hall, East End Elementary preschool intervention specialist Mrs. Bryant, high school health and physical education teacher Miss Sellers, seventh-grade science teacher Miss Wiles, and Holmes Elementary intervention specialist Miss Pitman.
