The Wilmington Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of smoldering sawdust in a trailer of a semi truck on U.S. 22 / S.R. 3 East near the overpass of the State Route 73 bypass. Firefighters used water suppression to make sure the smoldering did not turn into a blaze. The cause of the smoldering was not immediately known, said a WFD spokesperson. No injuries were reported. The trailer was unhooked from the truck cab.
