FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Wilmington College baseball team plated seven runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 14-11 win Wednesday at Franklin.

Wilmington has now beaten Franklin (6-5) twice to open the 2023 season. Wilmington has won six of its last seven games after an 0-6 start to the season.

Kaleb Stines earned the pitching win to move to 2-0 on the season, after entering the game in the first inning from the bullpen to corral a busy Franklin offense.

On the offensive side, WC rallied from a 6-1 deficit as Dominic Depa (2-4), Kyle Jennings (3-4), Jared Lammert (2-6) and Evan Eilerman (2-5) had multi-hit games for the Quakers. Carter Scheben, Jennings and Tyler Shaneyfelt all scored three times while Shaneyfelt extended his team leading runs scored total to 20.

The Quakers scored three runs in the fifth inning on a trio of walks and a two-out throwing error that allowed all three runs to score.

Clinton-Massie graduate Luke Chappie retired Franklin in order in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Wilmington will come back home for a three-game series against Hiram College this weekend.
