Local’s graphic novel dreams come true

WILMINGTON — A local gets to see his graphic novel dreams come true.

Nicholas Daulton, of Wilmington, is hosting a book signing/launch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 6 for the launch of his graphic novel, “You Can’t Kill the Monster.”

The launch will take place at Kairos Coffee at 1593 Rombach Ave.

Daulton told the News Journal he was self-published under the publishing name of 11:11 Books.

“Finally being able to hold my dream in my hands was worth all the world,” said Daulton.

The book was described as a slightly autobiographical story where the main character experiences many of the emotions that Daulton had gone through. He told the News Journal in February he took a lot of influence from Japanese comics (manga).

He described the story as being in three parts. The first part features a samurai and a monster personifying emotions being discussed between the main character and the character’s therapist. The second emulates a Batman-style interaction talking about the emotions Daulton and his wife dealt with. The final part deals with what Daulton called his “mental low point.”
