Shaneyfelt leads WC trio in post-season baseball honors

The Wilmington College baseball team placed three individuals on the Ohio Athletic Conference postseason teams, unveiled by the conference on Monday.

Tyler Shaneyfelt was named first team, Aaron Boster earned a spot on second team and Zach Shepherd garnered honorable mention All-OAC honors.

Shaneyfelt hit .310 on the season and led the conference in runs scored (53) and stolen bases (37) while setting Quaker single-season records in each category. The junior outfielder also drew 33 walks and carried an on-base percentage of .454.

Boster led the Wilmington pitching staff with 73.2 innings and led the OAC in strikeouts with 94. That strikeout mark is a single-season program best for the Quakers. In addition to running four games, Boster set a program record for strikeouts in a game by sitting down 19 Blue Streaks in a win over John Carroll on Senior Day.

Shepherd logged 43.2 innings in the circle and concluded his freshman campaign with a 3-1 record that included a compete game and a 3.09 ERA. Two of those wins — Heidelberg and Capital — were against OAC competition with the complete game coming in a 119-pitch effort against Capital.
