CLARKSVILLE — Clinton-Massie High School held its graduation ceremony on Friday, May 26, in the school’s gymnasium. The event honored 147 graduating students, marking an important milestone in their academic journeys. The evening was filled with memorable moments, inspiring speeches, and performances from the CMHS band and choir.

The commencement ceremony began with a special tribute to the Class of 2023 military enlistees, who have chosen to serve their country, through the presentation of flags. The dedication of these students was acknowledged and celebrated.

The CMHS band and choirs showcased their talent with performances during the ceremony.

CMHS Principal Aaron Seewer warmly welcomed everyone, setting the stage for the evening. Austin Vonderhaar, representing the graduating class of 2023, expressed gratitude and optimism in his welcoming speech by saying, “Always remember when you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. We are all ready to leave our mark in this world. Let’s enjoy one more night together as the Class of 2023.”

The invocation was presented by Isaiah McCoy, offering a moment of reflection and unity.

Marty Kreider, the salutatorian, delivered an address emphasizing the importance of staying present and embracing life’s wonders.

“As you step into the wider world, embrace the power of staying present. It’s a gift that allows you to truly experience life’s joys, the beauty of laughter, and the magic of a sunrise,” Kreider shared. He also reminded his fellow graduates, “A small school does not mean small dreams.”

Connor Stulz, the valedictorian, delivered a poignant speech centered on the beauty of imperfections. Stulz emphasized the value of embracing mistakes and learning to laugh them off, even during challenging times. “Even when times are rough, you’ve got to realize that nothing will be perfect, and sometimes you can laugh it off,” he expressed, sharing personal anecdotes that resonated with the graduating class.

Seewer expressed gratitude to Stulz for reminding everyone to find laughter amidst life’s challenges. He then delivered a speech: “This is not the finish line; this is the launching pad. You’ll never stop learning, as life will never stop teaching.”

Seewer congratulated the Class of 2023 and concluded his message with a phrase, urging the graduates to “stay classy Clinton-Massie.”
