Clinton Co. Health District releases food inspections

The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health District and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The RedZone Neighborhood Grill, 762 West Main St., Blanchester

  • Stove Burners are currently being used (5 of 6 burners work) oven not being used at this time, waiting on a part
  • Brown Plumbing has been contacted about installing hot water heater and checking backflow
  • Fire Dept. has given them until Nov. 4. to make corrections to electrical box for hood unit and system
  • All employees with facial hair must wear hair restraint, all kitchen employees must wear hairnet, hat, visor, etc.
  • Re-inspection will occur Nov. 7 or after

Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation, 75 Hale St., Wilmington

  • Currently no plumbing permit has been purchased through inspector’s office
  • Hand sink has been installed and they have new garbage disposal
  • Water cup has 54 degree Fahrenheit, cottage cheese 54 degree Fahrenheit (all TCS foods must be kept at 41 degree Fahrenheit)
  • Cooler says 37 degree Fahrenheit but inside thermometer reads 52 degree Fahrenheit, product inside is 54 degree Fahrenheit
  • All equipment must be maintained in working order

Flagway #18, 373 W Washington St., Sabina

  • Found open bag of pepperoni not date marked. PIC dated (opened Sat.) and will be discarded on Friday
  • Found lining (at white shelves) of cloth towels beneath clean dishes (allow to dry without towels)
  • More mopping and scrubbing of floors needed beneath the shelving in walk in coolers (near milk +beer)
  • Replace the lights burnt on on sales floor
  • Two reach-ins are out of order; PIC awaiting parts/service, fewer food items offered as a result
  • Must correct violates by next inspection

KFC, 127 E Main St., Wilmington

  • Went to facility on 10/10 and there was a new store manager that had just started the day before; cleaning was not done, returned the next day and cleaning of floors beneath all equipment had been done, equipment on cook-line almost complete
  • Continue cleaning and ensure closing staff sweeps/mops beneath all equipment every night
  • Complaint will be closed

Subway Inside Walmart, 2825 SR 73 S., Wilmington

  • Found sticker residue on the outside of two lexans that are stacked one inside the other
  • Keep training all employees to remove completely before storing as clean
  • Discussed cleaning schedule of ice machine; PIC states the pop ice machine will be cleaned every Wednesday
  • PIC answered questions asked about proper temperatures/cleanings
  • Must correct remaining violations by next standard inspection

United Dairy Farmers #192, 127 S. Broadway St, Blanchester

  • Fix the toppings bar -onions 47 degree Fahrenheit and sauerkraut 44 degree Fahrenheit. All TCS foods must be kept at 41 degree Fahrenheit or below. Cooler unit is reading 41 degree Fahrenheit; temp. area underneath 48 degree Fahrenheit
  • Continental freezer in kitchen (pizzas and other foods) had a broken door seal; all equipment must be maintained in good working order

American Showa, 960 Cherry st., Blanchester

  • Health timers were enabled on both machines (refrigerator and freezer).

Subway Restaurant #46274,

  • The 6.4 violation has been corrected
  • No certified food service manager at this facility (3rd violation)
  • Hand sink in kitchen still dirty all hand sinks must be kept clean (3rd violation)
  • On the prep line -pizza sauce 44 degree Fahrenheit, tuna salad 48 degree Fahrenheit, sliced ham 47 degree Fahrenheit, sliced turkey 49 degree Fahrenheit; all cold foods must be kept cold at 41 degree Fahrenheit or below
  • Walk in cooler temperatures were all fine
  • Salad temp. was 40 degree Fahrenheit on display; product must be pulled from service and properly disposed of and replaced with product at proper temperature (3rd violation)
  • Meatballs in hot hold were 104 degree Fahrenheit; all hot foods must be kept at 135 degree Fahrenheit or above, product must be removed and reheated
  • Sauce bottles on service line are not properly dated
  • Male employee not wearing beard net
  • Bread oven at front of the store not working and slushie machine at the back of the store not working
  • All non-working equipment must be removed for ease of cleaning
  • Second and third compartments of the sink are dirty (3rd violation)
  • Outside of walk-in cooler door is dirty, small metal bread cart is dirty, outside of metal pans have marker residue, outside of sauce bottles are dirty and where they are stored at is dirty
  • All non-food contact surfaces must be maintained clean (3rd violation)
  • Floor behind make-line and perimeter of floor in kitchen is dirty
  • All floors, walls, and ceilings must be kept clean (3rd violation)
  • Reach-in cooler on makeline is not working at all. Cooler has been unplugged but still full of wet paper towels; unit needs fixed or removed from facility
  • Facility is slowly getting a little better but still needs more attention
  • Re-inspection will occur on Oct. 16.
  • All lights were off in kitchen when inspector arrived (second time this happened)

Murphy’s Theater, 50 W Main St., Wilmington

  • No violations observed upon inspection
  • New pop coolers
  • No popcorn being popped on balcony or alcohol bottles

Aunties Bee’s Scratch Kitchen, 149 W Main St., New Vienna

  • Date-marking is needed on the following: opened cooked ham, opened sleeve of hard boiled eggs, small dressing bottle, opened lettuce, opened half and half. All items were opened Thurs./Friday according to PIC. Must date and discard on seventh day
  • Cook not wearing hat or hair net at the start of inspection (corrected during inspection)
  • Water flow at skin by pop dispenser is slow
  • Found many personal items stored among food or food contact surfaces

Frisch’s, 1341 Rombach, Wilmington

  • Melon at the bar was at 46 degree Fahrenheit and ham at 41 degree Fahrenheit in wic
  • Found broken lids covering food
  • Cooler not working, must repair and not use
  • More cleaning on wall near trash compactor
  • Found used utensils holding at improper temperature
  • Monitor chef’s walk-in cooler; still finding some food temperatures at 43 degree Fahrenheit
  • Sink hole observed near foundation where grease trap is located; call plumber to ensure no leaks
