Matt Schneider is joining the growing ranks of two-team swim coach.

Already the head coach of the Hillsboro swim team, Schneider will now be head coach of the East Clinton swim team.

Hillsboro and East Clinton both use the Highland County YMCA as their home pool.

”This is my first year with these (swimmers) and it just seems like a great group of kids,” said Schneider. “I am honored to be their coach and am really looking forward to a fun and productive season.”

There are seven swimmers returning for East Clinton but as of yet no newcomers to either the boys or girls teams.

“This is a great group of kids who are eager to work and learn,” Schneider said. “While we may only have seven swimmers combined on the boys and girls team, I am really looking forward to watching them compete and I know they will win a lot of events.”

The top returning swimmers are Jacob George, Barrett Beam, Elyon Hackman, Kaylyn Deaton and Jade Campbell.

Schneider said George and Beam “have already emerged as leaders of the team.”

With winning as many individual and relay events as possible, Schneider said the goal is improvement.

”We just need to keep working every day to get in shape and develop sound swimming mechanics,” he said.
