For the third season, Kacie Jenkins will coach both the Wilmington and Clinton-Massie swim teams.

At WHS, Jenkins will be assisted by Luke Mulvey.

There are 10 returning swimmers for the Hurricane. Bailey Moyer and Hannah Scott are the top returnees. Adriana Benitez is the top swimmer who is not returning for the orange and black this season.

Jenkins said newcomers to note this season are Cooper Short, Kaiden Bach, Alexa Benitez and Emily Goodwin.

”Hannah Scott will be a leader on our team,” Jenkins said. “She is dedicated to our team and knows the importance of building relationships with others on the team. She understands how swim meets run and will be helpful to all the newcomers because she is encouraging and helpful to those that need it during practice.”

Jenkins said the growth of the boys swim team is especially pleasing.

”I like how this team has developed over the last few years,” she said. “We went from having three boy swimmers to 15 in just three years. The swimmers were eager to get more to come out and went above and beyond asking other athletes and friends to join.”

Jenkins said improved technique will lead to improved speed. The goal is to qualify a relay and individual swimmers to the district meet at Miami University.

She said the Hurricane swim team has participated in the Hour of Power Relay for the past 15 years. The Hour of Power event is a continuous one hour relay that benefits research for Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer.
