Falcons third at Blanchester Middle School Invitational

BLANCHESTER — Clinton-Massie finished third Saturday in the Blanchester Middle School Invitational wrestling tournament.

The Falcons were in the thick of things for the team championship, finishing with 192.5 points. Springboro won the title by half a point over Waynesville, 207.5 to 207.

Blanchester was 10th in the tournament, Wilmington tied for 11th and East Clinton placed 16th.

For Clinton-Massie, weight class champions were Carson Wissinger at 86 pounds, Rylan Frommling at 98 pounds, Hunter Lance at 110 pounds, Sie Paytes at 142 pounds. Kolton Ellis was runnerup at 80 pounds, Yarik Luce was second at 122, Easton Wilson second at 134. Ava Payes was third at 104 pounds.

Wissinger won his title match with a pin in 28 seconds over Branden Fassler of New Richmond. Frommling pinned Daniel Adams of Bethel-Tate in 1:25 to take the title at 98. Lance also earned a pin in the championship match at 110 in 66 seconds. Paytes had a pin in 2:04 over Jack Weimer of Springboro to win at 142.

For Blanchester, weight class champion was Cory Kidd, who scored a 13-3 major decision over Khalid Shalash of Springboro in the championship match.

Colby Huston won three matches at 116 pounds while Jasper Johnson at 134, Sean Tissandier at 150, Haden Neff at 160 and Chase Daniels at 205 all won two matches.

Landon Abt at 104, Jack Smith at 128 and Landon Worley at 142 posted one win each.

For Wilmington, weight class champion was Bli Kretchek at 122 pounds, who pinned Luce of Massie in 2:19 to win the title. John Bean was fourth at 128 pounds.

For East Clinton, Myia Spurlock had a 32-second pin in her first match against No. 4 seed at 104 pounds. Colton Burgess also won his first match at 205.
