ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Hitting on four three-pointers in the first quarter, Monroe got off to a fast start and went on to post a 46-32 win over Clinton-Massie Thursday night.
The Falcons (4-8) fell behind 20-3 after one quarter as Monroe’s Saffron Weidner made a trio of long-distance shots. She finished with a game-high 18 points.
“We came out flat … and just couldn’t recover,” CM coach Hilma Crawford said.
Crawford said the Falcons played much better over the final three quarters but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Clinton-Massie cut the difference to 12 “a few times but couldn’t get over the hump,” said Crawford.
The coach said Madi Bayless and Laila Davis both played well off the bench for the Falcons.
