Massie middle schoolers fall to tough Goshen teams

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie Middle School girls basketball team lost a pair of games Wednesday to Goshen at Andy Copeland Gym.

The eighth grade was defeated 39-30. “They played a great game against a tough Goshen team,” eighth grade coach Brianna Machado said. “We started slow but were able to come out the second half strong. I’m proud of the girls’ hard work for their last home game as middle schoolers.”

Madi Brinck had 13 points and nine rebounds. Hayden Shumaker added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Molly Grant had four points and two steals while Kailey Wax contributed two points and six rebounds. Gwenyth Foust grabbed three rebounds and Bella Robinette had two rebounds. Payten Wilkin came up with a steal. Bristol Brady and Ellie Sizemore had one rebound each.

The seventh grade Falcons lost 44-34. “Goshen is undefeated in our league and our girls took them to the wire,” CM seventh grade coach Jimmy Brady said. “The girls gave a tremendous effort and worked well as a team.”

The young Falcons were led in scoring by Ellie Sizemore who had 11 points and six rebounds. Renni Sagraves and Bristol Brady added eight points each with Brady pulling in a team-high eight rebounds. Bia Burton had personal best six points. Tynleight McCallister and Burton had four rebounds each. Ella Kidder blocked a shot.
