Despite not having a game for Week 1 of the 2021 varsity football season, Dan McSurley said the Falcons have plenty going on.
Massie will compete Friday and Saturday in the Midwest Elite Football 7-on-7 Gridiron Showcase at Miamisburg.
There is an admission charge, McSurley said. Tickets can be purchased online at midwestelitefootball.com.
The Falcons will play first at 6 p.m. Friday, McSurley said, with a bracketed tournament scheduled to start 4 p.m. Saturday.
Also at the event, there will be Big Man Skills Combine at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Among the programs involved in this event, McSurley said, are Winton Woods, Centerville, Trotwood-Madison, Miamisburg and Franklin.
Athletic director Bennie Carroll said at this time the 2022 schedule is full but with the Covid-19 shortened season in 2020, holes were left in the 2021 slate. Columbus St. Francis DeSales slots in Week 4 this year.
Clinton-Massie defeated Kettering Alter 42-32 in the first game of the five-week regular season last year.
Carroll said he and football coach Dan McSurley have pretty much resigned themselves to a nine-game regular season. Massie would prefer to have a home game in Week 1 because there are only three other games at Frank Irelan Field on the current schedule.
“Financially it hurts by not having another (home) one,” said Carroll.
Clinton-Massie will conduct its annual pee-wee football camp July 26-27-28 at Frank Irelan Field. Camp times are 6 to 8:30 p.m.
