NEW RICHMOND — The Blanchester duo of Regan Ostermeier and Morgan Deless went 1-2 in a pair of events Monday on the first day of competition at the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division meet at New Richmond High School.
Ostermeier was first in the shot put (33-9) while Deless was second with a personal best effort (30-10.75). Then the two switched in the discus with Deless winning (95-5) and Ostermeier finishing as runnerup (94-11).
As expected the 4×800-meter relay team of Mckenzie Hamm, Emma Gundler, Olivia Gundler and Savannah Rhodes was an easy winner on Monday in 10:35.4.
Overall, Blanchester was first in the overall girls team standings with six events in the books. The Ladycats had 52 points while second-place Bethel-Tate had 39 points.
“We did everything we could on the first day,” BHS coach Tony Blevins said.
Asia Baldwin was third in the long jump (14-3).

On the boys side, Dylan Miller was third in the high jump, clearing 5-8, while teammate Quenton Miller was fifth at 5-4.
Matt Grogg was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 35-8 and fifth in the discus at 101-9. Reighdyn Bare was sixth in the discus with a toss of 99-8. Spence Dessiel was fifth in the long jump with a best effort of 17-11.5.
The boys 4×800-meter team of Sean Holland, Tyler Holland, Ricky Davis and Christian Woodyard finished third overall.
