CINCINNATI — The P&G Cincinnati MLB Youth Academy in Roselawn is currently offering many free programs and clinics for boys baseball and girls softball players.
Baseball & Softball Pitching Clinic with Mo Sanford & Pat Spurlock
• Saturday, Jan. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. (All ages welcome)
• Lead by Mo Sanford (former Reds pitcher) and Pat Spurlock (Indian Hill softball coach)
Knothole Baseball Umpire Training
• Saturday, Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 8 from Noon to 5 p.m. (must attend both days)
• Open to boys and girls ages 13 and older (as of May 1)
• $25 per participant (includes uniform shirt and rule books)
• Participants will be permitted to umpire Knothole games upon completion of course
Tucker Barnhart Clinic
• Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. (Must register in advance)
• Free clinic for players ages 7 to 13 to learn the fundamentals of pitching, catching, infield and outfield
• Players will receive hands-on instruction from current Cincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart
Baseball Strength & Conditioning Seminar
• Saturday, Jan. 28 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
• Free seminar on basic strength and conditioning development for coaches, parents and players 13 and older
• Lead by Sean Marohn (Reds Major League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator)
Softball Strength & Conditioning Seminar (for coaches, parents and players 13 and older)
• Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Free seminar on basic strength and conditioning development for coaches, parents and players 13 and older
• Lead by Brian Boos (NKU Strength & Conditioning Coach)
The Youth Academy in Roselawn is operated by the Reds Community Fund and offers free, year-round baseball and softball instruction, plus educational and vocational opportunities for boys and girls ages 5-18 residing primarily in urban neighborhoods in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Programs offered include:
• Boys & Girls T-Ball League (ages 5-7): A chance for younger kids to learn the basics of baseball and softball
• Baseball/Softball Skills Training (ages 8-18): Focused improvement on offensive, defensive, hitting and pitching skills; Small group instruction, hitting workshops and coaches instructional clinics
• Speed & Agility (ages 8-18): Advanced power and speed development
• Lifting & Conditioning (ages 13-18): Designed to increase strength, athleticism and conditioning
• Individual Instruction (ages 13-18): Targeted training for hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and base running
• Homework Help & Tutoring (all ages): Free school tutoring for those athletes participating in our baseball/softball programming
