OWENSVILLE — In its first one-run game of the season, the Blanchester softball team defeated Clermont Northeastern 2-1 Wednesday in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division action.
BHS pitcher Maddie Curless dominated the Lady Rockets with seven strong innings. She gave up three hits and struck out six.
“Maddie pitched an outstanding game and the defense backed her up,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “I was pleased with how the girls responded to the pressure of having to make our lead hold up for five innings.”
The Ladycats scored single runs in the second and third innings. In the second, Dakota Demitt went from second to third on Shelbie Rose’s sacrifice bunt then scored on a passed ball.
In the third, Elecia Patton singled, stole second and came home on a double by Kassidy Abney.
