ECHS ‘68 holds 50-year reunion

The East Clinton class of 1968 held its 50th reunion the weekend of Aug. 17. Classmates came from California, Oregon, Florida, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina and Ohio to reconnect and to share memories.

Friday afternoon many toured the East Clinton High School in Lees Creek. For some it was the first time they had been in the “new” building.

That evening, Kathy and Greg Linkhart welcomed all who came to their country home for a cookout. The rains subsided and a great time was had by all.

Saturday afternoon a tour was taken of the Murphy Theatre. The evening found the group gathering for a dinner at McCoy’s Catering, where the group picture was taken and all were entertained by the G&K stand-upcomedians.

The veterans of the class and those who are deceased were honored.

Festivities concluded Sunday with an outside worship service held in Wilmington where class members shared their faith and Greg Linkhart, EC class of ‘67, gave the message. This was followed by pizza at Generations.

When you graduate, you think your 50th reunion is far away. But as we know now … time flies!

This great weekend didn’t just happen; it was planned by class members Kathy Linkhart, Mike Fisher, Gary Bishop, Lois Steiner, Sue Caplinger, Carol Webster, Rick Kendall, Linda Johnson and Jacky Walker.

Mike Whited from the EC class of ‘67 was also instrumental in coordinating the reunion. Among many tasks, he researched and managed the contact information, set up the website, and was the weekend photographer.

Many thanks go out to this great team for putting together such an itinerary where memories were again shared and many more made.
