BLANCHESTER – Emily Hinkle had a record-setting night in Blanchester’s 7-0 win over Felicity in SBAAC National Division girls soccer action at Barbour Memorial Field.

Hinkle, a BHS senior, had two goals and three assists. She now has 29 career assists and is tied with Tori Richardson atop the all-time BHS assist list. Richardson finished her career in 2010. Hinkle has seven more games to hold the record on her own.

Hinkle also has 29 career goals, “showing off her amazing dual threat ability and consistency throughout her career,” BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Regan Ostermeier extended her career shutout record to 19 by making five saves in goal for the Ladycats.

Blanchester is 3-5-1 on the year.

The Ladycats came out quickly with Caitlyn Lakes scored with Hinkle registering the assist. Hinkle scored her first midway through the half with classmate Savanna Shank assisting. That’s how the half ended with BHS up 2-0.

In the second half, Blanchester exploded for five goals.

Hinkle scored early in the half with Olivia Gundler getting the assist. Senior defender Sally Schafer then had a “highlight” goal, volleying a cross from Hinkle to the back post for her first goal of the year.

Shank then scored two goals in two minutes with Gundler and Schafer getting credit for assists.

Hinkle then matched the assist record when she laid off a pass in the box to Gundler, who went top shelf for her first goal of the season, Ballinger said.

The BHS coach said Bri Haun and Bri Wilson played well defensively in the victory.
