WILMINGTON — The work is underway.

Despite a gloomy morning followed by a damp afternoon, volunteers began construction of Castle Park II playground Monday as the City of Wilmington and its Parks & Recreation Department has asked volunteers to build the new playground at David Williams Memorial Park.

The city is hosting an all-volunteer community construction week Monday through Sunday (May 19) with around 70 volunteers needed for each of the three, four-hour shifts — for all skills and interest levels:

• 8 a.m.-noon

• 12:30-4:30 p.m.

• 5-9 p.m.

They are also seeking donations of tools as well as food and drinks for the volunteers.

For more information as well as to sign up for a shift as well as to donate food and/or tools, visit the Facebook page “Castle Park II Build Week”; the URL is www.facebook.com/events/397797114303203/ .
