WARREN COUNTY — The Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car fatal traffic crash on Interstate 71 that occurred on Tuesday evening.

Moments before the crash, the Lebanon Communication Center with the highway patrol received reports of an SUV that was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-71.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Ford Explorer, driven by Jordan Rivard, 41, from Greenfield, Massachusetts, was traveling the wrong way as he was northbound on I-71 in the southbound lanes, and struck a 2017 Freightliner head on, driven by Mohamed Omar, 31, from Seattle, Washington.

Jordan Rivard and a juvenile passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A second juvenile passenger sustained serious injury and was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Omar was transported to the Bethesda Arrow Springs Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
