WILMINGTON — OHIO magazine is honoring a quartet of Wilmington College faculty members in its annual Excellence in Education issue.
Its December edition features, among faculty members from throughout the state, WC’s Dr. Russell Kincaid, professor of mathematics; Dr. Alan Ledford, assistant professor of sport management and program director; Chad McKay, assistant professor of agriculture; and Dr. Audrey Wagstaff, associate professor of social science.
Lute Harmon Jr., president of OHIO magazine, lauded the Wilmington College group and all those other faculty members recognized from the state’s colleges and universities.
“OHIO magazine is pleased to celebrate education and to honor those who are making a difference and contributing to Ohio’s commitment in achieving excellence in education,” he said.
Students’ accolades for Kincaid cited his “professionalism,” “wonderful sense of humor” and “extensive knowledge base,” along with “providing a positive role model in the classroom.”
Ledford was lauded as being “dedicated” to WC’s hallmark for hands-on learning. A student noted, “We enjoy learning in Alan’s classroom. He is energetic, engaging and is a professor we seek out as we value the real world experiences he brings to his lectures.”
Students’ comments about McKay included: “Chad does an amazing job of keeping his students involved in the lesson,” “He has a perfect balance of laughs and learning,” and “He’s one of the best professors at WC.” Other spoke of his “approachable demeanor,” “great insight and knowledge,” and “He’s always well organized and prepared for class.”
Wagstaff was described as an “exemplary” faculty member with a “well-thought out teaching philosophy.” A student mentioned, “Audrey holds us to high standards and we are motivated to strive to reach the goals she sets for us.”
