Driver charged after crash

The driver of a minivan is handcuffed by police early Friday afternoon on South South Street. Wilmington police were called just after 1 p.m. after the man allegedly drove into a utility pole, snapping it, and the van also struck and killed a dog, according to police, before the van ended up sideways in a driveway several houses down after striking a large white privacy fence along the driveway. The driver, Christopher Matthew Tolson of Middletown, was charged with driving under suspension. South South Street was blocked to traffic as police waited for DP&L to arrive.
