Six Clinton-Massie students in the Great Oaks Financial Services program proved that they’re among the best in Ohio, as they qualified for national Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition.

The goal of the competition is to provide student members the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills achieved in their career-technical programs.

The competitive events enable students to demonstrate career-based competencies, broaden knowledge, skills, and attitudes, expand leadership and human relations skills, demonstrate a competitive spirit, receive recognition, and earn industry certification.

The national qualifiers are:

• Lucas Hughes 2nd place in state competition, Advanced Accounting

• Grant Moorman, 3rd place, Advanced Accounting

• Sarah Norton, 4th place, Advanced Accounting

• Maddie Phipps, 5th place, Banking and Finance

• Isaiah McCoy, 6th place, Banking and Finance

• Eli Stiverson, 9th place, Personal Financial Management

The competition will be held virtually at the end of April as part of the Business Professionals of America 2021 Virtual National Leadership Conference.

The students are enrolled in the Financial Services program offered by Great Oaks Career Campuses in partnership with Clinton-Massie High School.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school, college, and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school.
