BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester-Great Oaks FFA chapter hosted its annual Greenhand Night on August 31. The chapter officers taught first-year members about FFA and what it has to offer.

After opening ceremonies, members were divided into four groups where all members were taught the basics of FFA.

Chapter Reporter Janelle Whitaker and Chapter Sentinel Abbi Scott led a presentation about official FFA dress and field trips such as the National FFA Convention and the Ohio FFA Convention.

Chapter Reporter Haley Sawyer and Chapter Vice President of Leadership Greta Quigley facilitated a presentation about Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) and Career Development Events (CDEs).

Chapter Vice President of Communities Aubrie Panetta and Chapter Vice President of Agriculture Gracie Kaehler spoke about FFA activities and fundraisers.

Chapter President Kimberly Hurst and Chapter Secretary Olivia Hatter led a presentation about the chapter’s website and social media pages.

Following the presentations, all Greenhands in attendance painted their hand green and put it on the classroom wall.

Following the activity of placing their handprints on the wall, members enjoyed refreshments.

“Greenhand Night was a blast,” said Vice President Greta Quigley. “I had so much fun planning it and getting to talk to all the new members. I feel they all learned a lot and had lots of fun!”
