BHS 1975, 1980 grads to reunite

Blanchester High School classes of 1975 (40-year) and 1980 (35-year) are planning a dual class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 8 rain or shine at the home of Paul and Lisa Crowe Jackson. Since the decades have “galloped” by, there will be a western theme. The host classes extend an invitation to all BHS alumni to “Polish up your cowboy boots and get your Stetson cleaned. Buy your stagecoach ticket to the greatest class reunion Blanchester’s ever seen.”

Due to the past great response of the classes of 1975 and 1980 invitations, this event has become known as “BlanStock.” The cost is $5 per person in advance or at the gate. Please bring your favorite covered dish or a dessert. Soft drinks and meat for the grill will be provided. Gates open at 11 a.m.

If you need a map or more information, contact any of these reunion committee members: Paul Jackson at 513-673-5800; Lisa Crowe Jackson at 937-509-0330; Joyce Kellerman Gray at 937-783-2066; Cathy Hedge Chowning at 937-364-0324; or Edith Cunnigan at 523-617-9380.

VBS for age 4 through sixth grade

Freedom Surfers Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, June 28 to Thursday, July 2 for age 4 through sixth grades. (Please note that information on the ages was incorrectly reported by the News Journal in Friday’s paper.)

It will be at Sligo Baptist Church, 249 S. Beechgrove Road, Wilmington.

Make your very own tie-dye patriotic shirt and other creative crafts and enjoy a time for snacks and fun games. Your children will learn great songs that will stir their hearts for the Lord and for America.

On Thursday at 6 p.m. the adult choir will sing with the children, kids will receive awards, and there will be a picnic-style dinner under the pavilion after the program. Bring loose change (penny wars between the boys and girls) that will be donated to the Christian Law Association, an organization in Mason that is on the front lines of helping to preserve religious freedoms in America.
