Musical comedic poet Lady Caress to perform at WC

WILMINGTON — Known for fusing poetry with comedy, music, beat boxing and storytelling, Lady Caress will bring her unique brand of entertainment to Wilmington College Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Heiland Theatre.

The final program in the 2016-17 Issues & Artists Series is free and open to the public.

Lady Caress — described as “the future of the spoken word” — has been sharing her poetry and public speaking talents with youth and adult audiences for 10 years. As a National Poetry Champion, she has coached collegiate students in competitive poetry and prose performance pieces, in addition to designing public speaking and poetry workshops for Upward Bound, YMCA and S.T.A.R.S.

She was featured on Season 4 of TV1’s Verses and Flow and the BET 365 Black Awards. Lady Caress twice won the Jacksonville (Fla.) Amateur Night contest and has performed at such popular venues as Bus Boys and Poets in Washington, D.C. and Love Jonz Spoken Jazz Set in Dallas.
