Housekeeping for Clinton County senior citizens

Few things are as satisfying, or brings a greater feeling of contentment to a senior citizen, as knowing that their home is clean and provides them with a safe environment.

Unfortunately, many seniors are unable to do the house work that makes that possible.

The Clinton County Community Action Program is pleased to announce that their homemaking program is available to help qualifying senior citizens with their home cleaning needs.

The service has been in operation since October 2005. The homemakers provide sweeping, mopping, dusting, oven and refrigerator cleaning, window cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and all general cleaning services. They will also do laundry and shopping if requested.

All of the homemakers employed by Community Action have had background checks and driver’s license checks. They are also bonded, and insured. Each homemaker receives training before they are placed in a client’s home. Homemaker visits are always scheduled so the client knows when to expect them to arrive.

Clinton County Community Action homemakers are required to have a working telephone, reliable transportation, and be available a minimum of 5.5 hours on the days they’re scheduled to work.

Sherry Bowling is the supervisor of the Homemaker program.

If you have cleaning needs, or would like to be considered for employment, call Sherry at the Wilmington Savings Bank Clinton County Senior Center, 717 N. Nelson Ave., 937-655-2164.
