VFW working toward parking lot paving

By VFW Post 6710

The Wilmington Post 6710 VFW hosted its second annual GumBall Rally in June to help with repairs of the veterans post, which is working toward blacktopping the parking lot.

The day started at 9 a.m. with breakfast and then a poker run that started at the VFW and went to four other businesses to draw a card, eat lunch or to just relax. The run ended back at the post with a smoke-off with seven participants who smoked Boston butts. Lance Spurlock and Dan Oehler were the team winners of the smoke-off.

There were also raffle items and a cornhole tournament as well as other events, with music provided by Chazzis DJ service.

The VFW post will be hosting another smoke-off in October to try to help out with the parking lot fund. Anyone interested in participating can come into the VFW and ask for info or leave your name and number and they will get back with you.

Anyone interested in donating to the post to help with the parking lot can send a check to: VFW Post 6710, PO Box 10, Wilmington, OH 45177; please write “parking lot” in the memo section.

The post thanks everyone for their participation.
