Get raffle tix for Compeer quilt

Participants of Clinton & Warren County Compeer began a quilting project in January 2017. The quilt is now completed and will be displayed at the Clinton County Corn Festival in the quilt show building.

Linnette Graesser, a peer supporter employed by Mental Health America to assist with Compeer, led the group by preparing the material and helping everyone quilt.

The group was comprised of volunteers and clients with various sewing experience. This quilt gave participants a chance to utilize the sewing skills learned during Compeer’s first quilt project in 2015, when each participant made their own quilt.

This year’s quilt was made from the “Nest and Feathers” pattern. Each month, group members would complete one or more squares. The groups were held at McDonald’s in Warren and Clinton Counties. Participants would sit around the table and socialize while working on their squares.

Mid-year, having 80 pieces, Graesser helped put them together and then took the quilt top to Janice Lawson of Sew Bizzy Machine Quilting, who donated her time and supplies to quilt and bind the project. The finished product size is 77” by 94”.

“Everyone was excited to work as a team and for the opportunity to use this as a Compeer fundraiser” said Graesser.

Raffle tickets are available Sept,5-8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Jen’s Deli, 28 W Main St. Tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5.
