William “Bill” Bean, 89, of Lees Creek, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wayne Township on Nov. 8, 1927, he was the son of Lee and Josephine Tucker Bean.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 64 years, Charlotte (Sheley) Bean, who passed May 20, 2017. The two were married Aug. 9, 1953.

Bill was a graduate of Wayne High School and the President of the senior class. He was a Navy veteran and a lifelong farmer, He was a member of the Lees Creek United Church of Christ.

Bill served as a Wayne Township Trustee for 26 years, an East Clinton School Board member for 12 years, a member of the Lees Creek Grange, the former Lees Creek IOOF, and Farm Bureau, played in several bridge clubs, and was active in the Sabina Area Men’s Fellowship.

Bill is survived by children, William “Billy” Bean, Cynthia (Dan) Saylor, Claudia (Jim) Hayes, and Noel (Lori) Bean. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, William, Abigail, Daniel, Betsy, Noelle, Samantha, Bryce, Misty, Mandy and Mitchell; 10 great-grandchildren, and one to arrive in December; along with sisters, Mary Jane Bentley and Joann Brandenburg; brother, Robert Bean; and brothers in-law, Tom and Dick Sheley.

In addition to his wife, Bill is preceded by sisters: Ruthanna Gray and Shirley Louderback.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Lees Creek United Church of Christ.

Family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, where a funeral will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek.
