BLANCHESTER — The American Legion Marion Post 179 in Blanchester is making plans to kick off its 100th anniversary by participating in the Fourth of July festivities in Blanchester to be held on July 3-4.

Both the American Legion organization and Blanchester Post #179 are celebrating their 100th anniversary beginning July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

With their 100th year milestone beginning in July, this promises to be a big event for the organization. Legion members also plan to extend the celebration throughout the year.

The Legion Post in Blanchester will have a float in the July 4th parade in Blanchester to highlight and commemorate the service of those in the armed forces as well as celebrating their 100 years. The Legion invites veterans in all five branches of the service to participate by coming and marching or riding in the parade with their fellow service men and women.

For information regarding participation in the parade, please contact Dick Simpson at 513-570-6165.

Members of the Legion invite everyone to come by their booth at the Blanchester festivities for information about the Legion and other veterans’ opportunities and benefits as well as seeking new members.

The Legion members look forward to being able to “Celebrate the Journey.”
